Correlates with population divergence in quantitative traits include altitude and associated climatic factors, especially maximum temperature of the warmest period and moisture indices. It is argued that small changes in climate, such as a long-term 1 °C increase in the maximum temperature of the warmest period, are likely to affect the adaptation of local populations of the species. However, since there appears to be significant quantitative genetic variation within populations for many key adaptive traits, we argue that populations are likely to maintain significant evolutionary potential.]]> Wed 17 Aug 2016 08:49:28 AEST ]]> High synteny and colinearity among Eucalyptus genomes revealed by high-density comparative genetic mapping http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:7761 Wed 06 Jun 2018 12:53:56 AEST ]]> Effects of biochar application on soil greenhouse gas fluxes: a meta-analysis http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:19925 Tue 16 Oct 2018 12:37:38 AEST ]]> Intraspecific hybridization in Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis I. A. Juss http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:17350 5000 km) and from the steppes of the Sahara desert to the fringes of Africa’s equatorial rainforests (700 km). Three chloroplast (cpDNA) loci and 13 nuclear microsatellite (nSSR) loci were genotyped in 503 individuals. Individual-based clustering of nSSR genotypes identified that all samples formed two populations that showed no pattern of geographic structuring. Population level analysis of nSSR data revealed only very weak genetic structure (F ST = 0.013) with most of the genetic diversity contained within populations. Geographical differentiation (G ST = 0.096) was low for the 14 haplotypes identified. However, whereas all haplotypes occurred in the western populations (including Cameroon), only two cosmopolitan haplotypes were found in central-eastern populations. Geographically restricted low-frequency haplotypes were found in eight western populations. Higher genetic diversity in western populations was confirmed by patterns of allelic richness, which were lower in central-eastern populations. Taken together, these results indicate that K. senegalensis displays very little genetic differentiation across its geographic range and that previously identified barriers to dispersal across the northern savannah belt of tropical Africa (e.g. the Dahomey Gap, Mega Lake Chad and the Adamawa Highlands) have not impeded contemporary gene dispersal in this species. Nevertheless, clustering of rare haplotypes indicates that the Dahomey Gap has likely been an important historical barrier to genetic connectivity between western and eastern regions of the species and that it is likely that this savannah tree also experienced range contraction around major forest refugial fringes or riparian incursions during the last glacial maximum (LGM).]]> Mon 02 Jul 2018 11:56:56 AEST ]]> Shelf-life of a biocontrol Pseudomonas putida applied to sugar beet seeds using commercial coatings http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:16525 Fri 27 Nov 2015 11:19:29 AEST ]]> Stem Anatomy and Adventitious Root Formation in Cuttings of Angophora, Corymbia and Eucalyptus http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:15541 Fri 25 Jan 2019 09:36:46 AEST ]]> Genome-wide scans reveal cryptic population structure in a dry-adapted eucalypt http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:15432 Fri 15 Jan 2016 13:34:53 AEST ]]> Applying biotechnology to design tree composition for value-added products: a mini-review http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:6416 Fri 08 Apr 2016 08:23:11 AEST ]]> A high-density Diversity Arrays Technology (DArT) microarray for genome-wide genotyping in Eucalyptus http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:8386 Fri 08 Apr 2016 07:28:53 AEST ]]> Genetic analysis of the near-infrared spectral phenome of a global Eucalyptus species http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:9899 Fri 07 Nov 2014 11:23:42 AEST ]]> Quantitative trait loci for foliar terpenes in a global eucalypt species http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:7760 Fri 07 Nov 2014 10:57:47 AEST ]]> A comparative analysis of population structure of a forest tree, Eucalyptus globulus (Myrtaceae), using microsatellite markers and quantitative traits http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:8367 Fri 07 Nov 2014 10:57:21 AEST ]]> Development and characterisation of microsatellite loci in Eucalyptus globulus (Myrtaceae) http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:8399 Fri 07 Nov 2014 10:47:10 AEST ]]> QTL influencing growth and wood properties in Eucalyptus globulus http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:8218 Fri 07 Nov 2014 10:45:36 AEST ]]>
