Overall, the present study provides guidance as to the parameters (minor allele frequencies, number of SNPs, SNP genotyping error rates) that optimize accuracy, and once optimized, SNPs can be used efficiently for sibship and parentage assignments for polygamous species such as yellowtail kingfish in comparison to pedigrees obtained from traditional microsatellite markers.]]> Tue 16 Oct 2018 12:23:25 AEST ]]> Insights Into Sexual Maturation and Reproduction in the Norway Lobster (Nephrops norvegicus) via in Silico Prediction and Characterization of Neuropeptides and G Protein-coupled Receptors http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:26577 Tue 16 Oct 2018 12:14:42 AEST ]]> Genetic parameters for survival during the grow-out period in the GIFT strain of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and correlated response to selection for harvest weight http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:16768 Tue 16 Oct 2018 12:14:24 AEST ]]> Estrogen therapy offsets thermal impairment of vitellogenesis, but not zonagenesis, in maiden spawning female Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:24332 Tue 16 Oct 2018 12:13:48 AEST ]]> Effects of nucleus position, profile and arrangement on the quality of mabé pearls produced by the winged pearl oyster, Pteria penguin http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:26960 Tue 16 Oct 2018 12:12:45 AEST ]]> Effects of GnRHa treatment during vitellogenesis on the reproductive physiology of thermally challenged female Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:24224 Tue 16 Oct 2018 11:53:20 AEST ]]> Are strain genetic effect and heterosis expression altered with culture system and rearing environment in the Portuguese oyster (Crassostrea angulata)? The results from this study indicate that yellowtail kingfish are generally efficient at digesting nutrients and energy from marine and land animal protein sources. Plant proteins such FBM, LKM-1 and LKM-2 appear to have relatively high protein and energy digestibility in yellowtail kingfish and may prove useful as alternative protein and energy sources in aquafeeds. The poor digestibility of the BLM and CGM used in this study suggests these products interfere with digestibility in yellowtail kingfish or there was some form of interaction between these raw materials and other raw materials in the reference diet. The ADCs derived for the raw materials examined in this study will assist in the formulation of research and commercial aquafeeds for this developing aquaculture species.]]> Mon 08 Jul 2019 13:27:39 AEST ]]> DNA Markers and Yellowtail Kingfish (Seriola lalandi) Breeding http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:28289 Mon 06 Jan 2020 13:44:02 AEST ]]> Monsoonally Driven Reproduction in the Tropical Black-Lip Rock Oyster Saccostrea echinata (Quoy & Gaimard, 1835) in Northern Australia http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:28539 1.50) from May through September, across both years. Across all sites, the GI had a strong, positive correlation with temperature (r ¼ 0.783; df ¼ 26; P <0.001) and a moderate, positive correlation with rainfall (r ¼ 0.496; df ¼ 31; P <0.05). Synchronization in spawning patterns occurred between sites, and gender ratios suggest that S. echinata is a dioecious species with low levels of functional hermaphroditism. The major finding of this study is that S. echinata spawns semicontinuously throughout the monsoon season (October–April) and has an extended resting phase throughout the dry season (May–September). The information generated in this study has a number of potential applications relating to the timing of broodstock collection and hatchery production, and it provides a broader basis for further developing S. echinata as a commercial aquaculture species.]]> Mon 06 Jan 2020 12:29:42 AEST ]]> Should only females of giant freshwater prawn Macrobrachium rosenbergii be selected in genetic improvement programmes? http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:30222 Mon 06 Jan 2020 12:05:44 AEST ]]> Seaweed composting: A novel approach to managing seaweed blooms in Kiribati http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:28956 Mon 06 Jan 2020 09:38:44 AEST ]]> Reproductive development of the threatened giant grouper Epinephelus lanceolatus http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:28605 Mon 03 Jun 2019 10:46:43 AEST ]]> Shells as Collector’s Items http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:27816 Mon 03 Dec 2018 13:04:38 AEST ]]> The capacity of oysters to regulate energy metabolism-related processes may be key to their resilience against ocean acidification http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:25563 Mon 02 Jul 2018 11:08:16 AEST ]]> First High-Density Linkage Map and Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms Significantly Associated With Traits of Economic Importance in Yellowtail Kingfish Seriola lalandi http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:25844 Fri 30 Aug 2019 12:46:54 AEST ]]> Empowering women in seaweed utilisation for food: A cross-country peer-led approach http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:28954 Fri 28 Jun 2019 13:10:02 AEST ]]> Empowering women in seaweed utilisation for food: A cross-country peer-led approach http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:28955 Fri 28 Jun 2019 13:09:57 AEST ]]> Using microradiography to assess nacre thickness of mabé pearls: Technique suitability and insights http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:25562 Fri 27 Apr 2018 10:58:45 AEST ]]> Breeding single-sex animal populations could help prevent disease and poverty http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:29754 Fri 25 Oct 2019 12:55:42 AEST ]]> A review of grouper (Family Serranidae: Subfamily Epinephelinae) aquaculture from a sustainability science perspective http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:24919 Fri 22 Feb 2019 15:32:43 AEST ]]> Crustacean Nuclear Localization Signals Help Facilitating the Delivery of DNA into Australian Red-claw Crayfish Cells http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:26954 Fri 22 Feb 2019 12:44:43 AEST ]]> Protective Effects of Bacteriophages against Aeromonas hydrophila Causing Motile Aeromonas Septicemia (MAS) in Striped Catfish http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:25328 Fri 22 Feb 2019 09:56:44 AEST ]]> Assessment of the origin of white spot syndrome virus DNA sequences in farmed Penaeus monodon in Australia http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:25864 Fri 20 Sep 2019 10:08:40 AEST ]]> Effects of shading on periphyton characteristics and performance of sandfish, Holothuria scabra Jaeger 1833, juveniles http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:29168 Fri 19 Jul 2019 11:50:44 AEST ]]> Economic assessment of community-based pearl oyster spat collection and mabé pearl production in the western Pacific http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:29728 Fri 17 Jan 2020 09:32:46 AEST ]]> Overview of the Development and Modern Landscape of Marine Pearl Culture in the South Pacific http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:30224 Fri 17 Jan 2020 09:27:55 AEST ]]> Economic Modeling of Round Pearl Culture in Fiji and Assessment of Viable Farm Size http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:25891 Fri 17 Jan 2020 09:20:56 AEST ]]> Progress in diet development for blue swimmer crab, Portunus pelagicus, juveniles: Effect of dietary phospholipid on survival, development, growth and resistance to osmotic shock http://research.usc.edu.au/vital/access/manager/Repository/usc:26569 0.05).
