- Description
- Starting in August 2008, the Water Planning Tools project aimed to help communities and governments meet the challenges of water planning by building knowledge and skills in government agencies, and by informing policy-making at all levels. The overall goal was to work across jurisdictions to improve the certainty, legitimacy and efficiency of water planning processes in Australia.
The project focused on developing tools for more effective community engagement and building stakeholder confidence in the water planning process.
The Water Planning Tools project worked in Queensland, South Australia and the Northern Territory to develop and trial ‘water planning tools’ that can be adapted to suit a range of conditions and that will enable better planning and management of Australia’s water resources.
Tools were selected for trial to address the main issues and gaps identified as impacting on the planning process.
