Abstract

Curriculum and Pedagogy engineering engineering education
This paper reports on changes to two practical projects that were implemented to improve the level of student engagement in a second year civil and mechanical engineering course. The practicals were redesigned so they could be conducted by small groups of students in the classroom instead of in the laboratory. The new practicals were very successful and were observed to promote increased student engagement and effective collaboration between team members.
