The Buderim Men’s Shed is one of the largest Men’s Sheds in the region, with up to 300 members at any one time. However, little is known about the particular demographics of the shed, how members make use of activities, educational services and community project opportunities. This project is a pilot study to quantify and qualify 1) who the members of the Men’s Shed are; 2) the components of the Men’s Shed program; and 3) health benefits to Men’s Shed members. This project extends on previous national surveys of Men’s Sheds by using one shed as case study to map these three components against aspects which have previously had little attention, such as barriers to participation and impacts of community involvement on the individual.
